Who we are

What we collect
We collect device and browser data, an approximate location from your IP address (country and city level), the pages you view and how you interact with them, and ad interactions.
Your clock preferences, pinned places, theme and other settings are stored only on your device (browser localStorage) and are never sent to us. We don’t have accounts, and we don’t use forms — if a contact form is ever added, this section will be updated to list what it collects.
How we use it
To run and improve the site, measure usage, show and measure ads, and prevent fraud and abuse.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. Data is retained for 14 months; Google Analytics does not store your IP address. See Google’s “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.
Advertising
We show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Personalised ads are shown only where allowed and only if you haven’t opted out. You can control ad personalisation at Google Ads Settings, aboutads.info, or (in the EU) youronlinechoices.eu. Our other advertising vendors are listed in the consent message shown to visitors where it applies.

Your choices by region
- EEA, UK, Switzerland: a consent message is shown on your first visit; change your choice any time via Privacy settings in the footer.
- US states with privacy laws: use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer. We also honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal.
- Everywhere else: use Privacy choices in the footer to opt out of analytics and personalised ads. Global Privacy Control is honoured here too.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete your data, or withdraw consent, and to complain to a regulator (EEA/UK residents).
If you are in India, under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can request access, correction or erasure of your data by writing to hello@thetimezone.app, describing your request and enough detail for us to identify what to act on. We aim to respond within 30 days. Note that settings and preferences stored only on your device are deleted whenever you clear your browser storage.
Retention & security
Analytics data is retained for 14 months. Data stored on your device stays until you clear it. Google retains advertising data according to its own policies.
International transfers
Google may process data outside India or your own country.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates are posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
